Xbox LIVE subscriptions will rise this November

Microsoft has recently announced that membership fees for Xbox LIVE will be raised on November 1, 2010. The increase will affect LIVE members in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico. Xbox LIVE members in the United States will see an increase for the Gold one-month, three- month and twelve-month plans. Under the new pricing scheme, a one-month membership will cost $9.99 (previously $7.99). A three-month plan will cost $24.99 (previously $19.99). And a twelve-month plan will cost $59.99 (previously $49.99).

For Xbox LIVE members in the UK, the subscription increase will only affect the one-month Gold membership plan, which will cost 5.99 GBP (previously 4.99 GBP). Membership costs for a one-month Gold plan in Canada will rise to $9.99 CAD (previously $8.99 CAD). Meanwhile, the cost of a twelve-month Gold membership for Xbox LIVE in Mexico will cost 599 Pesos (previously 499 Pesos).

“We’re confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry,” says Lawrence Hyrb (aka Major Nelson), the director of programming for Xbox LIVE.

Microsoft is offering a limited-time deal for customers who want to renew their subscription before the price change on November 1. The sale gives you a 12-month Gold membership for $39.99, which is $10 less than the current cost of a one-year membership.
